I was commissioned by KKL-JNF (Jewish National Fund) to design the cover for the Book of Honor, around the theme of "Iron Swords," which starts with the tragic massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas, during the October the 7th. 2024. The aim was to create a compelling image that would capture the profound gravity of the events – the turmoil, the fracture, the mobilization – and deliver a powerful artistic representation.
With painstaking effort, I sifted through countless hard-to-see photographs and iconic images, aiming to encapsulate the full spectrum of events and emotions – from anguish to confusion to resilience – and integrate them into a cohesive and evocative piece.
For me, the project was deeply personal journey for me dealing those events, and one of the most significant projects I did.
The KKL-JNF Books of Honor represent an extraordinary initiative by the Keren Kayemet Israel Fund, commemorating the names of Israel's donors across generations. Each hefty tome, weighing approximately 30 kg, features oversized thick pages and a meticulously designed cover crafted by artists.
Over the years, the books of honor have become a unique commemorative and memorial enterprise in the world.
